Abstract: The stratabound type skarn ore deposits are commonly seen in Tongling,Anhui Province.As an example,Datuanshan Cu-Au ore deposit is discussed in the paper.The characteristics of this kind of ore deposit that are different from common skarn one are as follow:(1)The skarn and ore bodies occur along the strata of the country rock as mainly quasistratiform.No alteration zoning between skarn and magmatic rocks can be seen as that in common skarn.(2)The major factors controlling ore-forming processes are strata,lithology,magmatic rock and detachment among strata.(3)The ore-forming mechanism is infiltration-diffusion metasomatism.Other characteristics such as mineral assemblages,ore-forming stages and temperature,salinity of ore-forming fluid,etc.,are similar to those of common skarn ore deposits.
