Abstract:
The Zhonggou area in Xiuyan County of Liaoning Province is located in the south of Liaoning-Jilin Paleoproterozoic rift zone, east of the northern margin of North China Craton, and in the Yingkou-Fengcheng-Changdian uranium metallogenic subzone. The paleo-weathering crust between the Paleozoic Cuocaogou Formation and Paleoproterozoic Lieryu Formation is developed with the uranium mineralization distributed near the unconformity interface, which bears a close relation to the fault structures that cut the unconformable surface. The mineralization is closely related to epithermal alterations such as clayization and silicification. The paleo-weathering crust and nearby rocks are rich in U with good correlation of characteristic element association, where high grade uranium and polymetallic orebodies are found. The main metallogenic period include development of unconformable surface, major epeirogenic stage, and fault-block movement stage. Based on the preliminary analysis of the geological characteristics of uranium deposits in Zhonggou area, it is thought that the area has good metallogenic conditions and prospecting potential for unconformity-related uranium and polymetallic deposits.
