    义县组底部层位发现恐龙化石

    DISCOVERY OF FOSSIL DINOSAURS IN THE BASAL AND LOWER BEDS OF YIXIAN FORMATION,WEST ERN LIAONING PROVINCE,CHINA

    • 摘要: 义县组是一套中生代火山-沉积地层,含有丰富的以热河生物群为代表的生物化石.20世纪80年代以来,在义县组沉积夹层中陆续发现珍稀鸟类、小型兽脚类恐龙中华龙鸟,以及原始被子植物辽宁古果等珍稀化石,但是有关珍稀化石沉积层的空间分布、上下层位关系、沉积环境和时代归属等问题,一直悬而未决,中国地质调查局东北地区地调中心从1999年10月开始,对辽宁省北票市-义县之间的义县组进行了1:5万区域地质调查填图,不仅确定了珍稀化石沉积层在地层层序中的确切位置,而且在珍稀化石沉积层以下,即义县组底部发现了大量恐龙化石.

       

      Abstract: By two years' field work,the regional geological surveying and mapping on the scale of 1:50000 in Beipiao-Yixian district have achieved great progress.The research work shows that the Yixian Formation in Beipiao district may be lithologically subdivided into 4 members(in ascending order):1)the first member,including the basal conglomerate and intermediate-basic vol-canic rocks; 2)the second member,the lacustrine sedimentary rock member; 3)the third member,the upper basic volcanic rock member; and 4)the fourth member,with a base of conglomerate and graywacke with gravels,and middle-upper part consisting of acid-intermediate volcanic rocks and interlayer sediments(such as Jingangshan layer).Among them,the 2nd member contains abundant fossils of "Jehol Biota",including the precious and famous Sinosauropteryx,Confuciusornis,Archaefructus etc.Moreover,a lot of fossil dinosaurs are found recently in the 1st members.The discovery not only enriches the early fossil ele ments of the Yixian For-matrton,help the investigation on the living environment of the dinosaurs and the reason for their extinction,but also gives an important fossil evidence for determination of the age of Yixian Formation.
