QUATERNARY HOLOCENE STRATIGRAPHY IN SIPING-SHUANGLIAO AREA IN THE SOUTH MARGIN OF SONG-LIAO BASIN

    • The south margin of Song-Liao basin is mostly covered by Quaternary strata with various types of origin. Based on their origin types, the Holocene strata distributed in Siping-Shuangliao area can be divided into following units: 1) the Wenquanhe formation of alluvial origin in early-middle epoch; 2) the Tantu formation of limnetic accumulation origin in the middle epoch; 3) the Daliaohe formation of alluvial origin in late epoch; 4) the Horqin formation of eolian accumulation origin; and 5) the Xieriga formation of limnetic accumulation origin. The early and middle Holocene epoch was in an environment of relative warm and humid veld to arid meadow vegetation; while the late epoch was in warm and humid veld to relative arid meadow vegetation environment.
