PERSISTENT ORGANIC POLLUTANTS:INFLUENCE ON ENVIRONMENT AND COUNTERMEASURES

    • The Stockholm Convention on POPs lists 12 types of persistent organic pollutants (POPs). This paper briefly discussed the properties of the POPs, as well as hexachlorocyclohexanes (HCH) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH), which are proved with the natures of POPs. The pollutions of POPs to environment, including soil, water, crops and atmosphere are introduced. Five counter measures of preventing environmental pollution are proposed for China on the basis of experiences of advanced countries.
