DRINKING WATER-CAUSED ENDEMIC FLUOROSIS AND ITS GEOLOGICAL ENVIRONMENT IN NORTHEAST CHINA

    • The drinking water-caused endemic fluorosis in Northeast China is characterized by wide distribution, large population of patient, serious illness and harmfulness. The main factors that control the distribution areas of the fluorosis are climate, hydrology, geomorphology, geologic structure, and hydrogeologic and geochemical environments. Based on the analysis of the relationship between the endemic fluorosis and geo1ogical environment, the counter measures and ways to prevent the disease and provide safe drinking water in these areas are proposed.
