    CHARACTERISTICS OF THE T3-J1 RADIOLARIAN CHERT AND POTENTIAL FOR HYDROCARBON IN EASTERN HEILONGJIANG PROVINCE

    • The Mesozoic radiolarian cherty strata contain abundant planktic microfossils,which provide rich lipid and organic materials commonly associated with marine hydrocarbon source rocks rich in oil and gas. Large amounts of hydrocarbon have been extracted from such strata. Some of them have become famous major oil fields. A lot of radiolarian cherty is found in the T3-J1 strata in Eastern Heilongjiang Province during recent geological survey, although previous exploration was not targeted at these strata for oil and gas. Study shows that the T3-J1 radiolarian cherty strata will be made such a potential target in the not too distant future.
