THE BAUXITE DEPOSITS IN HENAN PROVINCE, CHINA

    • The bauxite deposits in Henan Province occur in Carboniferous Benxi formation. Based on the sources of oreforming matters, the genesis of the deposits can be classified into two types, i.e. in-situ and ex-situ. The sources of oreforming matters are closely related to the topography of ancient weathering crust. The deposit scale, orebody occurrence and ore quantity are mainly controlled by the erosion interval between Cambrian and Carboniferous, the appearance of erosion surface and the distance apart from old land. Littoral-lagoon-marsh facies are the favorite environments for the forming bauxite deposits. Shanxian-Xinan is the potential are for prospecting concealed ore.
