GEOLOGICAL FEATURES OF THE MOPANSHAN LIMESTONE DEPOSIT IN WAFANGDIAN CITY, LIAONING PROVINCE

The Mopanshan limestone deposit, located in Wafangdian City, Liaoning Province, occurs in the second member of Cambrian Zhangxia formation. The Middle Cambrian Xuzhuang and Zhangxia formations and Upper Cambrian Gushan and Changshan formations cropped in the ore field belong to a suit of sediment sequence dominated by limestone. The ore bodies are in stratiform, with well continuity and large scale. The structures in the ore field are simple, without magmatic rock crops. According to the lithology and rock association, the deposit is of chemical or biochemical sedimentary type.
