GEOLOGIC CHARACTERISTICS AND PROSPECTING POTENTIAL AROUND HUATONG COPPER DEPOSIT IN SOUTHERN LIAONING PROVINCE

Based on the study of geology, geophysics and geochemistry in the surroundings of Huatong copper deposit, with discussion on the ore-forming conditions, four prospecting targets are determined, of which Kuangtongshan area is the major area for exploration. The tectonic metallogenic alteration zones are identical with the delineated geophysical and geochemical anomalies. The mineralizing conditions are comparable with the Huatong and Yangshan copper deposits. The electrical survey provides significant evidence for buried orebodies. A skarn type of Cu-polymetal buried deposit will be promisingly found in this area.
