PREDICTION FOR THE OIL SHALE RESOURCES IN DAPINGFANG-SIGUANYINGZI BASIN, WESTERN LIAONING PROVINCE

The Cretaceous Dapingfang-Siguanyingzi sedimentary basin is located in Chaoyang, Western Liaoning Province, where the Lower Cretaceous Jiufotang, Yixian and Fuxin formations are distributed. The Jiufotang formation is the main target for searching of oil shale deposits in Western Liaoning. A few oil shale occurrences have been found in the basin, with abundant resources. Based on comprehensive analyses, the prospect areas for oil shale deposits are predicted. The result will provide information for further exploration.
