GEOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND PROSPECTING DIRECTION OF THE BAUXITE DEPOSIT IN TAOYUAN SYNCLINE IN NORTHERN GUIZHOU PROVINCE

    • The Taoyuan syncline, located in the east of Daozhen County, Guizhou Province, is a component of the bauxite deposit in Wuchuan-Zhengan-Daozhen area. The deposit occurs in the Permian Liangshan Formation, belonging to the sedimentary type. The sedimentary discontinuity in geological history played an important role for the forming of bauxite. By analyzing the ore-forming geological background and geologic characteristics of deposit, the ore-controlling factors and exploration guide in the Taoyuan syncline are summarized. It is pointed out that there is still great ore potential in deep and western limb of the syncline.
