APPLICATION OF REMOTE SENSING TECHNOLOGY IN EARLY EXPLORATION FOR SHALE GAS IN COMPLEX TERRAIN

    • Most of the shale gas blocks for open tendering in China are located within the high-angle structural belt in the southeast of Sichuan basin, where the geomorphology is complex, with developed faults, making the exploration and exploitation difficult. To reduce the risks and costs, the geomorphic factors have to be seriously considered in early stage of shale gas exploration. Based on the remote sensing data from Baojing shale gas block in Hunan Province, with synthesized gradient and elevation factors, this research optimizes favorable areas in this block and provides a reference for further exploration and surface engineering.
