Work deployment for the new round of prospecting breakthrough strategic action in Liaoning Province(2026-2030)

    • As an important mining base in China, Liaoning Province possesses superior mineral resources, particularly evident in minerals such as iron, magnesium, boron and gold. However, long-term high-intensity exploitation has led to the depletion of some resources, challenging the resource supply and industrial chain security. Based on the current status of mineral resources and the exploration achievements in Liaoning Province during the period of 2021-2025, this paper systematically analyzes the resource potential and supply-demand contradictions of strategic minerals such as iron, boron and gold, and proposes an optimized exploration layout for the period of 2026-2030. The study suggests that maintaining investment in iron ore exploration be necessary to ensure national resources security; boron production should be appropriately adjusted to align with market demand; innovative research on metallogenic geological conditions and theories of dominant minerals such as iron, boron and gold should be enhanced, along with demonstrations of green exploration technologies. Simultaneously, attention should be paid to the exploration of minerals such as manganese, molybdenum, copper, vanadium, and titanium to energize exploration breakthroughs. Geological exploration work should be deployed according to the principle of "expanding target areas in fundamental survey zones, increasing exploration blocks in key survey zones, submitting resource reserves in key exploration zones, and increasing reserves in significant mines", to achieve new prospecting breakthroughs across the province, enhance resource security capabilities, and support the high-quality economic development of Liaoning Province and national energy and resource security.
