Abstract
To constrain the evolution of the Paleo-Asian Ocean, this paper analyses the petrological, geochemical, zircon LA-ICP-MS U-Pb dating, and Lu-Hf isotope for the Middle Permian Debaotu intrusion in Huade area of Inner Mongolia, located in the central northern margin of North China Craton. The results indicate that the Debaotu intrusion was emplaced in the early Middle Permian (269±1.6 Ma and 268.2±2.3 Ma) and represents an S-type granite derived from partial melting of the ancient pelitic lower crust of North China Craton under a thickened tectonic regime. Integrated with previous studies, the authors propose that during the Middle Permian, the Paleo-Asian Ocean in this region was in its final stage of subduction and consumption.
