Application of time-domain induced polarization method in mineral exploration in Jinchang area of Dongning, Heilongjiang Province

    • In recent years, gold resources in the Jinchang area have become depleted. To explore more concealed and deep orebodies, the time-domain induced polarization (IP) method was applied to carry out IP intermediate gradient and IP sounding surveys. Since gold ores in the area are commonly associated with sulfides(such as pyrite and chalcopyrite) and thus exhibit high polarizability, the Occam inversion was adopted with a new model constraint term introduced into the objective function to focus the target. As a result, three IP intermediate gradient anomalies characterized by moderate-to-high resistivity and high polarizability, and one IP sounding anomaly also with moderate-to-high resistivity and high polarizability, were delineated as mineralization-related targets. These results may provide data support for subsequent drilling deployment.
