Abstract
The Fenshui gold mine in the south of Liaoning Province has been shut down for the exhaustion of explored reserves. This study tries to judge the denudation level of the Fenshui gold deposit through the analysis on the typomorphic characteristics of pyrite, to direct further geological prospecting. The typomorphic characteristics of pyrite from Guantun, Panling, Tianshuijing and Shiqiaozi ore blocks show that the ores has been deeply denuded, and the orebodies outcropped on the surface were the lower part or bottom of the deposit. In Qianlinzi and Hetun orefields, the typomorphic characteristics suggest a shallow denudation. The orebodies occurring on surface were the middle and upper parts of the gold deposit. The gold grade of pyrite form Qianlinzi is up to 120×10-6-520×10-6, with a potential for further prospecting.
