  • The progress of transfer zone is introduced by structural environment phases. With different standards such as geometric shape, structure size and stress, this paper discusses the classification of transfer zones. Based on the classification schemas by previous researchers, with the growth mechanism of fault, the authors put forward a comprehensive classification mode for transfer zones in reference to dynamic evolution. By comparison of the classification standards, the previous typical classifications are rearranged and corresponded. The controlling factors, which affect the development of transfer zone, including the basement structure and lithology, are discussed. Some subjects remained for further study on transfer zone are listed, such as the definition of influence area, classification with consideration of sediment center, and process of the dynamic evolution. The future research of transfer zone will focus on the classification standards based on various factors, with quantitative analysis and inversion for dynamic development, to achieve correspondence of transfer zone types to the distribution of sedimentary water system and oil-gas, which will support the oil-gas exploration and exploitation.
