GRAPHITE RESOURCES IN NORTHEAST CHINA: Potentiality and Development Strategy

Natural graphite is increasingly used in high-technology field, and will be a kind of important strategic resources to support high-tech development in the future. Based on related fundamental data, this paper analyzes the characteristics of graphite in Northeast China and predicts the reserves. With a review to the present situation of the graphite industry in China as well as the rest of the world, the authors put forward some measures about sustainable utilization of graphite resources in Northeast China. It is concluded that the graphite resources in Northeast China is characterized by large scale, great reserves and high quality, with concentrated distribution. Therefore this nonmetal mineral is suitable for surface mining, with high utilization value. It is suggested that scientific utilization and protection should be carried out, with deep processing and development of high-end products.
