STUDY ON THE GEOLOGY AND GEMSTONE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE OBSIDIAN FROM CHANGBAISHAN MOUNTAIN

Changbaishan Mountain, situated in the eastern margin of North China platform, is the only composite volcano in China. The regional fractures are developed, with frequent volcanic movement. The central eruption of the volcano formed the exceptional Changbaishan obsidian. On the basis of the volcanic geologic characteristics of Changbaishan region, with testing and analysis of obsidian samples, this paper reveals its occurrence, forming mechanism of high-temperature and high-pressure, as well as the characteristics of high energy, strong adsorption, weak electromagnetism and rich content of microelements. It is concluded that the Changbaishan obsidian is a specific gemstone with health care function.
