THE STUDY OF HYDROCARBON RESOURCES IN THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN

    • The Republic of Kazakhstan, situated in Central Asia, neighboring China,is abundant in petroleum deposits. Most of Kazakhstan's oil and gas reserves have not been developed, with large areas remaining to be explored. The available reserves in continent are 2.1 billion tons of oil and 1600 billion cubic feet of gas,and more under the ocean. So far, more than 200 pools have been discovered, including oil fields, oil and gas fields, condensate fields and so on.The bulk of undiscovered oil/condensate and gas reserves are estimated to be distributed in Kazakhstan's west territory. It is anticipated that a considerable portion of Kazakhstan's potential hydrocarbon resource will be located in North Caspian (Peri-Caspian) Basin, Middle Caspian Basin-Mangyshlak Province and North Ustyurt Basin.
