Abstract
The recently discovered Chenjiazhangzi gold deposit in southern Chifeng, Inner Mongolia belongs to the cryptoexplosive breccia type related to Mesozoic magmatism-a new type in this area. The study on the characteristics of geology, geophysics and geochemistry for the deposit shows that it is a part of a porphyry gold-copper mineralizing system, in which the upper is rich in gold and the lower rich in copper. The explored ore body is only the top of the deposit while bigger gold-copper ore body existing in the deep. In addition, there are some similar cryptoexplosive breccia pipes distributed in groups or zones around the esposit. These breccia pipes are associated with geochemical anomaly, showing promising information. It is suggested that the exploration should be concentrated on the deep of the deposit to enlarge potential resources. A deposit model should be established in order to guide ore prospecting in the region. The porphyry gold-coper deposits related to the cryptoexplosive breccia should be explored according to geochemical and geophysical anomalies in the region.
