CHARACTERISTICS OF TECTONIC EVOLUTION AND ASSESSMENT OF OIL AND GAS POTENTIALITY OF THE LUOYANG-YICHUAN BASIN

    • Luoyang-Yichuan basin, tectonically located on the southwest margin of North China platform, developed from the end of Indosinian movement,is one of the new exploration areas for oil and gas in Henan Oilfield.Mesozoic Triassic strata are the key target for exploration.Research has proved that the Triassic series, with its shallow burial, large residual thickness, vast distribution area and developed dark argillite, are potential for oil generation. The stratigraphic preservation, structural development,oil-distribution,and oil and gas formation are dominated by the tectonic evolution of the basin, thus it determines the direction for oil-gas exploration.
