Abstract
The Ongniud-Kulun region in the southwest of West Liaohe River plain is in serious short of water. It is difficult to search groundwater in the region for its complex conditions of terrain, physiognomy and geologic structures. In the groundwater-searching practice,we necessarily studied previous data, synthetically analyzed the hydrogeologic conditions and the rules of groundwater recharge, flowthrough and drainage, and adopted new techniques and methods such as remote sensing and geophysics. It is important to probe groundwater in faulted zones, the fissures or caves of carbonate rocks, the incompact and porous beds of paleochannel.Through two years' work,7 wells have been finished for the local government. The flow-yield of the groundwater amounts to 3464.91 m3/d,which alleviates the serious condition of daily-used water for human and livestock in the regions. The work has established a typical model of seeking water in similar regions.
