  • Gold mineralization is usualy accompanied by wall-rock alteration and mostly controlled by faults or fracturcs. It reflects some elements' anomalies in geochemistry. In an area where certain gold mineralzation or ore bodies have been found and the general features of ore-controlling have been recognized, geochemists can collect composite samples properly, mainly in the region of mineralized alteration zone, analyses involved indicator elements, summarize geochemical indexes, set up the model of geochemical metallogenic prognosis based on the nature of elements' anomalies or linear productivity, the geochemical indexes or elements' ratios, the estimated values of gradual regression equations, then, forecast the deep of known mineralization or ore bodies, and finally evaluate the prospects of peripheral anomalies. This is named as "the method of geochemical metallogenic prognosis in alteration zone".
The method is successful at Jinlongshan gold deposit which is of a sediment-hosted micro-fine dissminated type in Qinling Mountain. The prognosis is semi-quantitative or qualitative. The estimated value of regression analysis is nearly quantitative. It is also effective and low-cost.
